A private gated estate in the hills above Cascais, five minutes from Praia do Guincho. Morada do Sol has four independent units — rent one for a small group, combine them for a larger gathering, or take the whole estate for up to 27 people. A place to slow down, reconnect, and make the most of what this corner of Portugal does best. All units have Wi-Fi and access to the swimming pool and gardens.

Villa Cascais (up to 18 people) combines Villa Monte e Mar — the main house, with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, open-plan living and a private 2,000 m² garden — with Casa dos Meninos, a charming 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage connected via internal stairs, featuring hand-painted azulejo tiles by a local artist.

Villa Sintra (up to 12 people) has two ground-floor apartments: Casa Jasmin (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, private patio) and Casa Geranium (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open-plan kitchen and private patio). Each can be rented separately or together.

Morada do Sol sits within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park — a protected landscape where building is strictly limited, which means your neighbours are pine forests, wild flowers, and the occasional fox rather than other holiday villas. It's a genuinely rural setting, and yet Cascais and Sintra are ten minutes away, Lisbon less than thirty.

The estate covers 5,000 m² of mature, well-kept grounds. A grand pine-lined drive leads you in, and from there the gardens open up into distinct spaces — shaded corners under old palm trees, open lawns, a vegetable garden and orchard where you're welcome to help yourself to whatever's in season, all grown without pesticides. In spring and summer the gardens are in near-constant colour.

The swimming pool is covered, which means the water stays warm enough to swim from April through to November — a longer season than most villas in the area can offer. Sliding doors let in a cooling breeze through the summer months.

When the weather turns, the estate shifts character rather than closes down. Log fires, the view down an unspoilt green valley to the sea, the Sintra hills behind — winter here has its own quiet appeal.

Beaches
Praia do Guincho is just 3 km away — one of the best spots in Europe for surfing kitesurfing.
For calmer water, Cascais town has several sheltered beaches a short drive away, including Praia da Rainha — the most photogenic.

Hiking and cycling
You're inside the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, which means some of the best walking in the region starts practically at the gate. Trails through protected pine forest, cliff-top paths, and quiet valleys that most visitors to Cascais never find. An 8 km cycle path connects Cascais to Praia do Guincho, following the rugged coastline past the Cabo Raso lighthouse — flat the entire way, and one of the most enjoyable half-day rides in the area.

Sintra
Ten minutes away, the drive along the N247 through the Serra de Sintra hills and down to the coast is one of the most rewarding scenic routes in the region. Sintra itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site — Palácio da Pena, Quinta da Regaleira, and the Castelo dos Mouros are the highlights, and easily done in a day.

Cascais town
Boca do Inferno — where Atlantic waves funnel through collapsed sea cliffs — the marina, the historic Cidadela, and the Casa das Histórias Paula Rego museum are all within a few minutes of each other. The town also has excellent seafood restaurants and a lively market.

Cabo da Roca
The westernmost point of mainland Europe is a short drive from the estate — worth it for the cliffs and the Atlantic view, particularly at sunset. Expedia

Lisbon
Less than 30 minutes by car, or take the train from Cascais — it runs directly to the centre of Lisbon, with tickets under €5 return. A full day in the capital covers Belém, the Alfama, and some of the best food in Europe.
